Free agent right handed pitcher Jhoulys Chacin, 28, has reached a one year agreement with the San Diego Padres according to San Diego Tribune reporter Dennis Lin on Saturday. The financial details of the contract were not released by the Padres management on Saturday. Chacin has pitched in the Major League Baseball level with the Colorado Rockies from 2009-2014, the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2015, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2016 and the Atlanta Braves in 2016. His contract with the Braves expired at the end of the 2016 baseball season. The Padres are giving him a chance to pitch for their team during the 2017 Major League Baseball season since they are in need of starting pitchers for their rebuilding team.

The Padres are a dog team and Chacin is a dog starter. He was awful for the Angels.

You are correct. The Padres just need some arms on their team that is not being to contend for a pennant in 2017.
