A few sad stories on the news about children bring victims in road rage incidents. Have you been a victim? Have you seen it? How should one deal with such an encounter? Any advice?

I saw the news about the 3 year old kid being killed because of road rage. And it isn't even the first time. Very sad.

@marlina Yes, that is what inspired this post. Sad events! What do you do when someone honks or makes an indecent gesture? I Just pretend that I didn't hear them or see them. So far, so good!

@stbrians They have campaigns. It doesn't stop the lunatics that are on the roads these days.

I ignore them. (even though I am tempted to fight them),, it is much better to just ignore them.

Since we don't know the frame of mind of a road-rager, I think that is probably the best advice, just ignore them completely. I always pretend it is my fault and that I'm stupid rather than pick a fight or provoke the road-rager. I just want to get home safe.

Carry a camera device? If it is serious enough when they pull into their parking spot there might be a police car waiting for them there.

@stbrians That would be good but for that I would want it to be hidden and the upload extreme secure to avoid backlash.

@stbrians Yep I agree there is a time and place. Sometimes we need to be cautious around bullies and then other times show that we are brave.

When we are behind some one that is driving crazy. We slow down and get far behind them. We do not want to be any where near them.

That seems to be a very sensible course!

That kind of road rage needs to be reported to the police. I've never been a victim or seen it.

Yes, but sometimes a lot of damage is done way before the police arrive as happened with the 3 year-old child that was killed. I'm sure there are some wise proverbs about keeping our cool and not looking for quarrels. These people that demonstrate road rage are looking for a quarrel and an excuse to hurt someone.

@stbrians Yes it is, and the person needs to be found and brought to justice.

I think the best thing to do is notify the police.

@stbrians Yeah, no need to act or react and end up involved in a violent or dangerous altercation. know what I mean?

@His_chariot Good idea! Better to let the police handle dangerous road-ragers.

I have never been in such an incident. I try to be courteous to other drivers and I get annoyed if they are thoughtless but I don't really get angry. I do not understand why there is such a thing as road rage. Why get mad over such inconsequential crap as driver behavior?! There is something seriously wrong with such people. If I was involved in such a thing I would get off the freeway and pull into a busy parking lot. If they followed I would call the police. That's assuming they didn't run into me and wreck my car or shoot me.

The best thing is to ignore the road rager and distance yourself from him . It's better to preserve one's life .

I'm also cautious and let crazy drivers go. I do not get in their way. Some are mentally ill and have horrible tempers. I have witnessed a few fights in my days. Very sad!

I have seen a lot of people drive crazy, aggressive and I just usually let the go by me and move on. There is no reasoning or winning with those people.

I have learned to do the same as we do not what mental these problems are having or what substance they are abusing. I wish we had a way of unanimously signalling the authorities when we see people breaking the laws.

I've seen some incidences but have never been personally involved in an incident. I try to be as wise as possible by keeping my cool and not give anyone an excuse to harm me. Sometimes, if I see a motorist following too closely I pull to the side or switch lanes and let them pass as they make me nervous.
