Former Chicago White Sox left handed relief pitcher Clayton Richards on Tuesday has signed a one year, $1.75 million dollar contract.
Richards, 33. has pitched both as a starter and relief pitcher for the Chicago White Sox (2008-2009), San Diego Padres (2009-2013, 2016-present), and Chicago Cubs (2015-2016).
Padres general manager and President of Baseball Operations A J Preller made the announcement on Tuesday.
Okay so the Padres are not in contention to make a playoff run in 2017 but at least they are putting some pitchers on the team at this time.

Richard is happy for a job and his price tag isn't steep.

That is true even though the Padres are not pennant contenders in 2017.
