It's time for #9 in my Favorite "Walk" Songs series (an idea I stole from @FourWalls,) "The Walk" by The Time.
The Time was formed by Prince in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1981, and after a couple hiatuses, are still at it. Fronted by humorous vocalist Morris Day, The Time gained mainstream fame after appearing in the Prince film Purple Rain.
(You won't find it on Wikipedia, but the story has always been that smooth voiced Alexander O'Neal was the band's original vocalist, but was fired by Prince for being "too black." Whether it's true or not, who knows? As much as I like Alexander O'Neal, Morris Day is a better fit.)
From their 1982 album, What Time is It?, "The Walk" was released as a single, and reached #24 on the Billboard R&B chart. However, according to Wikipedia, Prince played all instruments on the song, with Morris Day doing vocals.
Sure, the album version is nine minutes long, but it's a fun nine minutes!

Those were the days before Purple Rain turned them both into megastars.

I liked Purple Rain a lot. The music in that movie was untouchable. Too bad Prince's next movie was a dud, despite the soundtrack.

The Walk has that classic early Prince 80s sound (The Time is Prince really) and Morris Day was really good. I liked him in Purple Rain.
