Another quote from another Christmas movie. This one is actually a favorite of my family. We watch it every year just before Christmas. Thanks to DVDs we have a wide ranging collection of Christmas movies besides the Christmas Carol collection I referred to in my earlier post. The collection used to be on VHS. Over these later years, we have slowly been replacing the tapes with DVDs. It is a good thing we did since our old VCR won't interact with our new television. Have you ever bought a new piece of technology that made some older piece of technology you had obsolete?

I have many DVD's myself. But not too many. See, I had loads of VHS tapes. I used to tape movies like crazy. Now with iTunes, I can find just about anything I want there. They all stay in the cloud in digital form. And I can watch them whenever I want. And YouTube is another awesome place to find some old movies. I actually found the 1951 version of A Christmas Carol starring Allistar Sim. That one, Scrooge is my favorite version. I also found some old Abbot and Costello movies. So I don't bother anymore with DVD's. Yes I have some, but I will be getting rid of them like I did my VHS tapes. I wish they had this digital technology back in the 80's.

The available bandwidth in our area isn't quite there yet to make streaming movies a convenient way to watch, though it is getting better.

@DWDavis I have some good internet here. I cannot complain. I know they are looking to have super fast connections leeds. Like AT&T is got one in certain states. Fits as well. But where I am I have Optimum. That is, or should I say, was Cablevision. They were sold to a French company. But I have blazing fast internet and a great router as well. The Apple Airport Extreme. So most everything wireless in my house works fine. I hope you can get some good high speed internet there to stream. That is the future of TV and everything else it seems.

@inertia4 I know AT&T has been doing a lot of work in our area to upgrade their system. I hope we start to see some of the benefits of that soon.

Yes, I have. So what is the name of the movie. I don't recall any quote like that.

The VCR did not really last that long. I wonder is the dvd's will be replaced with something else in a few years.

I don't like having to throw them away -- like my old cassette tapes,

My older techie stuff seems to get olde too quickly even before I get newer stuff. We have loads of vhs movies stored in the basement. I should go through them and donate the good ones to the library if they still have the players to use them, that is.
