look everywhere except at him and keep fingers crossed that the lift goes especially fast today or initiate a conversation with your boss? How to deal with this one of life's embarrassing moments?

I always had good terms with all my bosses and i definataly strike a conversation if we are together in the lift. If it's a super boss, and we don't interact much, still i would greet him/her. I don't find it embarrassing at all.

That's great! I'm just scared of the silence when I really cannot think of a single thing to say.

@shaynas depends on the boss maybe, I find some easier to talk to than others.

I'd use that opportunity to remind him (for the sixth time) that unless he orders those parts, I am not going to be able to finish my job, and I first told him over a month ago I needed them...

LOL! And you couldn't find any other good opportunity to ask him? I would just pop over into his room and shoved the approval papers to him!

@bluemoonpavilion He's out of the office more than in, catching him in the elevator is probably easiest

Why would it be embarrassing to be with your boss on a lift?

I should specify he's not a direct boss but rather someone higher up the ladder, and it's embarrassing because I don't know what to say.

You could just say Good Morning how are you?
