I've never been a "world traveler" in reality (heck, there are still twelve states in the US I haven't made it to yet!!), but when it comes to music we can go anywhere and everywhere. So here's another song with an international destination in the title. #3: Waterloo Sunset - Kinks The Kinks may have better-known songs and much bigger hits (this didn't even chart in the US, even though it did quite well everywhere else), but as far as better quality songs? Not in my opinion. Waterloo is part of central London in this song, not the place where "Napoleon did surrender" in the Abba song or "that's where Napoleon met his Waterloo" in the Stonewall Jackson song. What a lovely love song about a couple (Terry and Julie) who meet at the Waterloo subway station "every Friday night." The narrator sees them, but the lyrics put them in the backdrop of the fading light: "As long as I gaze on Waterloo sunset I am in paradise." What a great song. I saw "Waterloo" and cringed because I thought it was ABBA. Thank heaven for the Kinks!

Stonewall Jackson had a hit called "Waterloo" when the members of Abba were still in junior high school.
