I like my music kind of loud, but ... she doesn't.

I will sometimes fiddle around with my sound maker app and compose some real nice tunes just for fun but my wife hates it loud.
I really am glad I got rid of those huge stereo speakers from Radio Shack long time back. She and I once listened to U2 on those Mach 5 and Optimus stereo speakers and boy the neighbors ... well they could have called the law on me. I really liked it loud then, but I am more quiet about things now.
I have to be. I don't have proper sound baffling or air tight windows in this room.
I still like it loud but have to have the speakers pretty low. The sound system on my computer is using the HP Beats audio codec. It along with my 3 Altec speakers are perfect for my needs.Anyone who likes to listen to music on their PC should invest in a surround sound system even if it is only composed of pair of speakers and a sub-woofer.
look at this link below about ALTEC products from Altec Lansing online:

I listen on my Sennheiser headphones when I'm on computer. I have DCM Time Windows, Acoustic Research AR-3as, and Marantz Imperial 6s as my main speakers when I listen to my real stereo (not all at once!), but I don't listen very loud these days. I do have a pair of Realistic Nova 4s for sale right now. Someone gave them to me, and I refinished them. They're small and kind of bright sounding (to my ears).

Cool. I once made two towers full of 15 inch MIS musical instrument speakers and super tweeters. I ended up giving them away for practically nothing to a guy who used them on his guitar amplifier. His mom got a bit upset by that I am quite sure.

@lookatdesktop What handled the midrange? I bet they played loud.

@TheHorse The musical instrument speakers seemed to handle all of it. But the bass was missing. This was a bit like the sound of being in a stadium and I did not really like it because it was too loud for a small space. Like the kind of speakers on a stage where a loud rock performance was going on. I would not make a speaker system using MIS any more. They were available and I wanted to experiment. That is basically what it was. I tinkered with speakers and wooden speaker enclosures just to find out what it would sound like. I once had a high fidelity stereo that had two basic speakers for left and right and in the middle where the turntable sat, was a built-in mid range speaker. It was a very good stereo system. I kind of wish I still owned it. This was back in the late 60's.

@lookatdesktop Exactly. I listen to what I want to. Most of the time.

That is the way it is. I understand perfectly. We need time to indulge in our music no matter who else likes it or not. It's self expression.
