The American League champion Cleveland Indians on Friday have reached a three year, $60 million dollar contract with with free agent outfielder Edwin Encarnacion.
Encarnacion, 33, became a free agent at the end of the 2016 Major League Baseball when his contract with the Toronto Blue Jays expired.
The Blue Jays were not able to re-sign their star outfielder to a new contract but since Encarnacion turned down the Blue Jays qualifying offer to return to the Blue Jays, the Indians will surrender to the Blue Jays their first round draft choice to the Indians for the services of Encarnacion for the next three years.
Encarnacion's three year contract has a fourth year option that is worth $25 million dollars and a $5 million dollar buyout.

Encarnacion replaces Napoli and really gives the Indians that home run slugger they lacked. They will be top contenders.
