Spoiler alerts 2014 – Marvel A trilogy of Galaxy Of The Guardian stories specially presented for a national (UK) Free comics day promotion to encourage children to read, and of course, buy, comics. Story one is an untitled piece in which Tony Stark arranges for reformed Spiderman villain venom to be recruited as a Guardian of The Galaxy but he is really just getting Venom off Earth and he gives the Guardians weapons that can stop Venom if he reverts to his evil ways. Much of the story is just an introduction to the Guardians characters as Stark tells Venom who they are, which is well known to anyone familiar with the comics or the movies. Story Two is Jim Starlin’s Thanos – The Infinity Revelation, in which the formidable God like enemy of the Avengers and The Guardians comes begging the Guardians for help as an even bigger, more powerful villain has usurped him. He has great difficulty getting them to believe him. The final story is actually a Spiderman adventure called Learning To Crawl, by Dan Slott. It features a Spiderman in a parallel universe where he has gained his powers in Shakespeare’s time and exploits his skills as an actor at the Globe until an as yet un-named villain arrives and beats him to death. The villain is killing all the multiverse versions of Spiderman and inevitably he will eventually set his sites on the Spiderman / Peter Parker of our World. An interesting taster comic which is not bad for a freebie publication. Arthur Chappell
