Why do Britons go boxing on the Day After Christmas Day? What if you don't like boxing?

Some people go out shopping for Boxing day here too. I don't personally. I don't like shopping much, especially when the stores are crowded. Not something that I really understand.

It's called Boxing Day because it was the custom for tradesmen and people who performed a public service (such as road sweepers) to go from house to house with a collection box asking for money for 'services rendered'. These days, the Christmas Box has mostly been replaced by bonuses (given by the employers). The day is still a Bank Holiday and a Statutory holiday, however, and is a sort of extension of Christmas. In the country, it used to be a traditional day for fox-hunting and other blood sports (until they were banned).
