In 1993, after Denver had spent decades trying to land a Major League baseball team, the expansion Colorado Rockies took the field. They have been my favorite team ever since, which is why I'm doing this countdown of my favorite Rockies players. We're at #9, second baseman Eric Young. An original Rockie, Eric Young played four seasons with the team. He is the Rockies' All Time leader in stolen bases. Young's best season in Colorado was in 1996, when he batted .324, hit hit eight home runs, had 74 RBI's, and stole 53 bases. For his efforts that season, Young was an All Star, won the Silver Slugger Award, and was the National League leader in stolen bases. Eric Young is forever cemented in Rockies lore. Young was the lead off batter in Colorado's first ever home game at Denver's old Mile High Stadium. He hit a home run, the first home game home run. And that's why we love him.

Surprise choice. I liked EY. Great hustle player. He was a Dodger product and they should never have let him go.

The Rockies actually got some good players out of that draft. EY was definitely one of them.

No, but did you know that Neil Young was once in a band with Rick James called The Mynah Birds? (If you did, please disregard.)
