The Boston Herald reports the news on Tuesday former Minnesota Twins infielder Trevor Plouffe who became a free agent at the end of the 2016 Major League Baseball season has drawn the interest of the Boston Red Sox.
The Red Sox who will enter the 2017 Major League Baseball season as the defending American League East Division champions want to sign Plouffe to a contract since his role with the team will be that as of a reserve infielder and not a starting third baseman.
Plouffe played third base for the Minnesota Twins from 2010-2016. The Twins released him since they are in a rebuilding mode and they did not want to Plouffe a salary of up to $7 million dollars since he only played in 84 games for the Twins due to a handful of injuries.

Someone will take a chance on Plouffe at a bargain rate. He has some pop in his bat.

You are correct since a change in teams will benefit Plouffe in 2017.
