Day 111 Proverbs 14:35 Proverbs 14:35 The king’s favor is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causes shame. Everyone likes to have favor with the people they associate with, whether it’s a work situation, hobby interests, friendships, or any number of areas people associate with one another. However, favor isn’t always given. It must be earned and those who cause shame, don’t receive favor from anyone. Solomon had many servants and people who worked for him as he was not only the king of Israel, he was a businessman and property owner. Ecclesiastes 2:3 I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life. 4 I made me great works; I built me houses; I planted me vineyards: 5 I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits: 6 I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that brings forth trees: 7 I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me: 8 I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts. 9 So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me. 10 And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labor: and this was my portion of all my labor. As you can see, Solomon was well versed in every form of industry, not just running the country. He knew whom he could trust and was worthy of his favor, and whom he couldn’t and found his wrath on him instead. As Christians, you want the King’s favor on your life. As such, you do what you can to fulfill your calling in the body of Christ. You might not know what your calling is, or if there is anything you can do, but you can always bless someone, always encourage people, and let them know how much God loves them. It doesn’t take any skill to bring a smile in a person’s life. Sometimes that’s what a person needs more than all the outdated clichés a person tries at and fails. However, when you don’t even do that much, hiding your light under a bushel, burying it in the ground, you are not helping anyone, not even yourself, and you will find that what you have, is taken from you and given to someone else, thus incurring God’s wrath on your life instead of his favor. Matthew 25:14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. 15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. 16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. 17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. 18 But he that had received one went and dug in the earth, and hid his lord’s money. 24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strewn: 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. 26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knew that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strewn: 27 Thou ought therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. 28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. 29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. 30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. If you want the King’s favor on your life, then you need to do what you can. God has given talents to each person as he is able. Let’s pray: Father, help me be a blessing to everyone you place in my path. Let me not hide your gifts and talents but let me use them to your glory. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. I always wondered about that piece of scripture where it says that those who have will be given more and those who have nothing much -- even the little that they have will be taken from them.

God gives us gifts/talents to use in the body of Christ. It is what you are good at. When we use those gifts or talents for God's glory, he will increase our knowledge in that area so we can be a better benefit to people. However, if you hide whatever God has given you, and refuse to use it in the manner God intended, he will take those talents from you.
