I wouldn't go as far as to say a 1983 Yamaha XJ900R was the best bike in the world but it was definitely the best bike in my world. I owned this bike from 1983 to 2007 at which time I gave it to my son in very good condition. The engine design is a transverse vertical 4-cylinder producing 97 hp which required almost no work after the initial break-in period. The bike has required only tires, brake pads and exhaust replacement in 24 years, has been used by me at a local dragstrip to produce 12.4 sec / 111 mph quarter-mile runs, has made a couple of really long trips (many 1000s of km), taken me to work and back for a couple of years and is still a joy to look at and ride. The shaft drive makes maintenance too easy and one never has to worry about chain adjustments. I would have no qualms in recommending a well-maintained used model for anyone desiring a reliable, fun, cafe-style, do-everything bike.

Hi, I see you had no responses, so here's one - today I am in love with the Triumph Rocket 3, probably the biggest bike in the world, certainly the most unusual I have ever seen, and I'd love to own one!
