Well, it's been fun. A lot of fun, this "Walk" songs series, which is one that @FourWalls did first. We're at #1, which is an all time favorite: "Parisienne Walkways" by Gary Moore.
Irish guitar hero Gary Moore began his professional music career in 1969 and continued making music up until his death in 2011. Although he did a couple of stints in Thin Lizzy and served as guitarist for Colosseum II, Moore spent the majority of his career as a solo act, both as a hard rocker and as a bluesman. Either way, he was popular in Europe, but really never caught on here in the States. (Which is too bad. Most people have no idea what they missed.)
"Parisienne Walkways," from Moore's 1978 album Back on the Streets, was written by Gary Moore and Thin Lizzy leader Phil Lynott. Lynott provided bass and vocals, and Thin Lizzy drummer Brian Downey also appears. The song reached #8 on the UK Singles chart, and, like all of Moore's work, was largely ignored here. It's a beautiful song, driven every sweet, sweet note that comes out of Moore's guitar.
According to Wikipedia, Queen guitarist Brian May and vocalist Kerry Ellis will be releasing an album in 2017. A cover of "Parisienne Walkways" will be on it. I'm curious to hear it.

Two great talents. Gary Moore did a 'walk' song: a cover of Walkin' By Myself. I am surprised that he never made it big in the States. He had a number of solo hit singles here. Still Got The Blues was in a similar vein to Parisienne Walkways.

He's always had pretty much a cult following over here. The only time I remember hearing him on the radio was his cover of "Shapes of Things."

@JolietJake - Do you have the live album We Want Moore? That version of "Shapes of Things" is incredible.

@JolietJake - Check it out sometime if you get the chance. He just shreds it.

All that, and he hosted To Tell the Truth, too!
(For you young'ns, look it up, but that guy's name was spelled Garry Moore.)
A super-dooper fine close to a great series! Thanks for "walking" in my idea!

THAT's what he hosted. I told Alfredo that I vaguely remember watching him on something when I was a little kid, but couldn't remember what.

I want to say that I watched him on something when I was a little kid, but I'm not sure.

I am unfamiliar with this song. I think you had Gary Moore in another list and that's the first I heard of him.

Oh, I use Gary periodically. He's my favorite guitarist, so I use him when I can.

I always enjoy seeing what theme you will come up with for music. I think I will start my own music series soon too - inspired in part by you
