Steve Adams reports the news the Toronto Blue Jays are currently negotiating with free agent outfielder Jose Bautista. Bautista, 36, would accept a one year contract to remain with the Blue Jays since there have not many team knocking down the door to sign him to a contract before the start of the 2017 Major League Baseball season due to his age and being injury prone. The Blue Jays who have already lost to free agency infielder Edwin Encarnacion and outfielder Michael Saunders would hate to lose Bautista who is one of their most valuable players on their current roster. One problem Bautista has had getting injured in the last few years playing baseball for the Blue Jays is that the artificial surface at the Rogers Centre has taken a toll on his feet and knees.

You are correct since I understand their fan base just loves their team.

My husband is a sports fan but not baseball, it has to be football in my house.

I see your point. I did play Little League Baseball in Panama in the former Canal Zone.

If Bautista returns to the Jays, he would probably slide into full time DH.

That would be the right call to have Bautista as the designated hitter.
