Indianapolis Colts linebacker Robert Mathis, 35, on Friday told his teammates that his final game of his football career will take place next Sunday when the Colts will compete in the final week of the regular season against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Mathis who was a fifth round draft choice of the Indianapolis Colts in the 2003 National Football League Draft out of the University of Alabama A & M. It is rare for any football player to play his entire career with one team in the National Football League due to free agency and the salary cap. Mathis played 14 years in the National Football League with the Indianapolis Colts except for the 2014 football season due to a torn Achilles heel injury. The Colts (7-8) will be playing to avoid having a losing season against the Jaguars (3-12) who will be playing to win their second straight football game after the firing of their head coach Gus Bradley.

He had a long career and probably tired of taking a beating after 14 years.
