We are nearing the midway point of my Favorite Rockies Players series, with a player very near and dear to my heart: outfielder Ellis Burks, #6 in this countdown.
Ellis Burks played 18 seasons in the major leagues, four of which were for the Colorado Rockies. Fast as hell, Burks was a power hitter, a member of the Rockies' four man home run machine known as The Blake Street Bombers. As a Rockie, Burks was an All Star (two total in his career,) and a Silver Slugger Award winner (two in his career.)
Burks' best season in a Rockies uniform was 1996, when he led the National League in runs, slugging average, total bases, and extra base hits. He had 32 stolen bases, his .344 batting average was second to Tony Gwynn, and he came in third in MVP voting.
In 2005, Ellis Burks began working in the Cleveland Indians' front office. While I find nothing on whether he is still with the Indians, he does live in Ohio.

He was awesome. I'm just glad we got to have him as long as we did.
