Do you love penguins? No, not the hockey team but rather those adorable little water-loving black and white birds that simply love to catch and eat fish. Have you ever wanted to have one as a pet? Well, if you have $25.00 you can buy one online. Yeah I thought the same thing when I saw the advert – it's either a rip off or you get sent a stuffed animal that looks nothing like a penguin.
I'm not sure what the deal is with this site – it is littered with misspelled and grammatically incorrect words and describes how they ship the penguin to you. Directly from the website and word for word “Shipping your Penguin is done in specially made polystyrene transport boxes. They are given a very subtle sedative to calm them. This slows the heart rate and allows for them to go without food for 5 days“
I am not a fish broker nor do I know anyone that owns ANY type of penguin but $25.00 seems a little sketchy when you consider the paperwork and shipping for it would be about four times that amount. When I was poking around online I couldn't find any type of site registration to see where the IP originates, some sites said that you couldn't own a penguin in the United States and other websites said it was allowable if it followed the local and state exotic pet laws and registered it / them.
If it were legal to buy and own a penguin AND they were selling them for $25.00 I would buy a rookery of them. How cool would that be to have fairy penguins waddling around and chirping at everything. Funny, the website doesn't mention anything about them pooping everywhere, need for fresh seafood, the need to have more than one (they are not solitary creatures) and having a veterinarian that can treat this type of exotic animal.
Suffice it to say, this isn't a legit website but the creepy side of it is that it's been up since 2005. Why is that creepy? Someone either bought the domain name or pays a yearly fee for it – all for a couple of laughs. I guess if you love penguins it's a small price to pay to have the URL bragging rites.

That is absolutely horrible in every way. I actually HOPE it's a scam, because shipping a sedated bird in a STYROFOAM BOX has got to be just about the cruelest and most disgusting thing I have heard of!

@freak369 - good god, I knew they were hiding them in the door panels, but I hope those were at least SPARE tires. Still it's unconscionable. People can be scum.

I love penguins. I can watch them all day. I wouldn't buy one, though.

I love penguins and I think that is messed up how someone could do that. Seems like you have to be so careful anymore.
