We’re Getting Plastered!

Woo-hoo, whoopee, yahoo! We’re getting plastered. And on New Year’s Day. (In America “plastered” is slang for stinking drunk.) The thing is, we’re not getting plastered in that way at all. And there’s no woo-hoo, whoopee or yahoo about it. We are getting plastered with snow. The snow is coming down so fast and hard right now that I can hardly see five hundred feet (152 meters) away. They forecasted snow this afternoon but not like this. They forecasted only about one inch (2.54 cm). But it’s really snowing and blowing. They did forecast the wind. The snow is blowing and sticking to my living room window. That goes to show you how well insulated the glass is. The snow is not melting off the window. Not even when I place my hand on the inside of the window for five minutes. It’s supposed to clear up by nightfall and turn extremely cold. And stay cold the rest of the week. The way things look right now, it appears it’ll snow all night. I’m just glad I don’t have to drive anywhere.

We haven't had a lick of it at all this year. I wouldn't mind a little bit of it myself.

Happy New Year to you - in all your plastered glory ! Does this mean you are officially snowed in? Well if you did decide to get plastered, I guess you're safe doing it inside . . . the snow won't let you go anywhere! It's gray here, supposed to be light showers possibly - but yesterday was quite sunny. If you happen to watch the Rose Parade in a bit, that is the weather we are having today!

@RichardMeister Not living in snow, I don't know the fine lines of snow. I wouldn't know at what point schools would close because of snow (there are never rainy day closures here). In any case, it all sounds pretty cold to me out there! My sister and husband went to Big Bear (where we had gone over summer) just before New Year's. There was snow up there . . . and they brought their dog who experienced snow for the first time. And I forgot to mention in your other post . .. a lot of people brought their dogs up there and apparently there was a lot of yellow snow spots all around!!

@much2say As far as school closures that is completely up to the school district. There were several that started 2 hours late today but none that I heard of that closed completely. What did your sister and husband do at Big Lake if there was snow?

Happy New Year to you, too. Snowed in? No, it would take a lot more snow than that for me to be snowed in. When I was working I drove home in a worse snowstorm than the one mention here, which was actually yesterday. Right now it's clear and sunny but only 17º F with wind gusting up to 25 mph making it feel like (wind chill) -3º F. I missed the Rose Parade–was out shoveling snow.

We had some nasty snow on Friday, but it's actually been a bit warm over the weekend.. nearing 40 during the day. They say it's going up to 50 this week! It won't last long though...

Hope you had fun getting plastered woot! I don't really do that anymore since my son was born, but I did get slightly drunk New Years Eve. Then I payed for it the next morning when I had to go to work lol. Wish we got snow. FL sucks sometimes lol.

I didn't have a thing to drink, but the snow really came down for about 3 hours. I'm sure you would enjoy the snow until you had to get out there and shovel it.

When I was a child I loved the snow. But as an adult there are things that need to be done. The walkways and driveways need to be cleared of snow. There is concern over wether there is too much snow on the roof. If so, it will have to be cleared. We don't want the roof collapsing under the weight of the snow. There is driving. A car just came around the corner and started sliding sideways and just missed my parked car by about 6 inches (15 cm). They were going too fast. I would not have been any too happy if they hit my car.

We haven't had a lot of snow yet. It is very odd for us in the midwest being December. I wouldn't mind a good amount of snow and then I want it to get warm lol Never ask for too much lol

From what I know about the midwest, which isn't much, I always thought you got hammered with snow. The way I feel about it is let's have snow on Christmas Day then let it melt away. But that doesn't happen since winter starts only a few days before Christmas.
