Yep! That's what I like to see, very cold outside, but , very nice , and , warm inside. The fire in our small fire place is doing its job today. But there is some days that are not as great. If the wood is a bit damp, or , seems to not give enough heat. I have been told that it always depend on the kind of wood we are using. Don't mind me I am not really good to see much difference in wood, but my husband is. So I'm covered.
For a good fire in the fireplace that gives good heat that's what I like, so I don't have to be tending it all day long, and wishing to be in warm places where there is no winters......

Well seasoned wood burns much cleaner and gives off more heat than green wood. Hen we heated with wood we cut our wood a year ahead to allow it to season properly. The one time we tried to burn wood that had not been seasoned we used twice as much wood and didn't get a lot of heat. We also had a chimney fire because the wood was too green.

@beenice2 not just hectic it is insane and not a good practice. Wood needs to dry for almost a year before it is ready to burn in a fireplace or a wood stove.

@beenice2 I would still love it, would rather watch the flames than tv, I call it the fire channel lol.
