I had a lot of fun watching the next guy in my Favorite Rockies Players series: #4, outfielder Dante Bichette.
An original Rockie, Dante Bichette played six seasons for Colorado. A big, strong slugger (a Denver sportswriter once called him a "big block of Creatine,") Bichette was a four time All Star and a Silver Slugger Award winner during his time with the team.
Bichette's best season as a Rockie was in 1995, when he batted .340 with 40 home runs and 128 RBI's. He was the National League leader in both home runs and RBI'S that year.
Bichette is forever entrenched in Rockies lore: he hit the first home run in Rockies history, and the first Colorado home run at Coors Field, where the Rockies play.
Were his numbers inflated by playing in Denver's thin air? Possibly. But man, was he a blast to watch.

Bichette came up with the Angels and stayed 3 years before the bonehead trade of sending a young player showing signs of pop in his bat for a 40-year-old Dave Parker. It's hard to say if Bichette's stats were inflated that much in Denver. To a degree but he played the his career prime there and the Rockies gave him a chance to start every game which the Angels and Brewers did not.

A couple of my friends once ran into him at the batting cages. He was driving balls one handed. Said he couldn't have been nicer.

Did you know we were told that we were not supposed to take Creatine in The Marines as they thought it was a type of steroid. I am still confused if it is or not the best I could find was it is not really a vitamin or a mineral, but more vitamin or mineral like than it is steroids. It was never banned it baseball or any profession sport but believe the NCAA banned it.
Anyway, another hitter I always liked. The Rockies were loaded back in the day.

I love going to Rockies games. I always have fun, even when they lose.
