The Denver Broncos search for the successor of former head coach Gary Kubiak who stepped down on Monday due to health issues will not be from the current assistant coaches that worked for Kubiak in 2016. Kubiak was the head coach of the Denver Broncos from 2015-2016 winning one Super Bowl in his first year as the coach of the Broncos. Kubiak had to miss one game during the 2016 football season due to health related problems which was the main reason he decided to step down from being the head coach of the Broncos in 2017. Elway mentioned on Monday that the Broncos "are excited" about three of four coaching candidates to replace Kubiak in the 2017 football season. The catch was that Elway did not mention who are the coaching candidates on his wish list.

Kubiak did lead the Broncos to a win in Super Bowl 50 in his rookie year. But this year the Broncos did not make it to the playoffs.
