Day 119 Proverbs 15:21 Proverbs 15:21 Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walks uprightly. You see them wherever you go, carefree people without a penny to their name, always talking about what they are going to do, but never doing anything to accomplish their dreams. You shake your head and walk away, knowing they are heading down a destructive path. Solomon was familiar with them as well. He studied folly so he would understand its ways. Ecclesiastes 1:17 And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit. (KJV) Solomon determined it was better to have wisdom and understanding. It gave health and stability to the spirit as the person grew in his relationship with God, and the only way to do that was to study the Law of Moses. Today as Christians, you have the entire Word of God at your disposal. You can search the scriptures to know God’s heart for his people. You can see God’s love for you through the birth, death, and resurrection of his Son, Jesus. As you read, you see the wisdom poured forth on each page, wisdom found in following the example Jesus gave us. In the sinlessness of Jesus, you see your corruption, your folly. You see how destitute you are without a Savior. However, when you set your heart to know and accept what God did for you in sending his Son to be your Savior, and accept him and the finished work of the cross for your salvation, then and only then will your life become free of the chains of folly put there by Satan to your destruction, and you will walk in the newness of life gaining a new understanding of the love God has for you. 2 Corinthians 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (KJV) God knew your folly would need reconciliation, and the only way to get it was through the cross, the death of his Son, Jesus. The gospel in a nutshell is what my fourth-grade teacher called John 3:16. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. You see God’s intention in sending his son to be your Savior – your salvation, life eternal with him in heaven. Have you read the verse following? John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. It was for your salvation God sent his Son. When you accept what God did for you, folly will have no place in your life. You will no longer be destitute of wisdom, and understanding will become a way of life for you as you seek God’s will for your life, daily. Folly does not need to be the way of your life. You can live in wisdom and the hope of your salvation, walking uprightly into your future instead of your destruction. Let’s pray: Father, help me live my life free of folly, and full of wisdom as I seek to know your will for my life, daily. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. They say "a chapter a day, keeps the devil away" - is it that simple?

I've never heard that, but I bet it works. He doesn't bother me as much as he does if I should forget to do my Bible Study. But since I've been doing a daily study and posting it for a number of years now, that simply doesn't happen too often.
