Just read a very Disturbing Hate crime where Four man gaged and tortured a mentally unstable man who they thought was a trump supporter.

Many people are denying that this is a hate crime, which I don't understand. They obviously hate the man because he is white and they think he supports Mr. Trump. If the victim was black and targeted because he supported Mr. Obama it would certainly be judged a hate crime. This society has officially gone insane.

@Ovaiis Oh, that's good. I hope they get long sentences, but my hunch is that they won't. I assume the Charm School in Joliet is overcrowded.

Are hate crimes on the rise? I saw a lot of racial harassment when I worked in Oakland, but haven't looked at the numbers lately. The most common victims (in that area) were local Asian merchants.

@Ovaiis I'm always hesitant to trust what I read in the news. My hunch is that a lot of hate crimes go unreported. And simple racial harassment isn't a hate crime, though it happens often.

It's more than a hate crime. It's a federal crime, torture and kidnapping is what I see first, and that's a federal crime. I feel that prosecution is more likely to be given if it's not made about race. Sad but true.

The whole notion of "hate crimes" is a bit weird to me. If one beats the crap out of someone but doesn't mention their race out loud, is it not a hate crime? Even if they targeted a black, white, Asian, or whatever? Kidnapping and torture? Lock 'em up, feed 'em bread and water, and toss the key, I say. Same for that kid who shot up the black church, except I'd like to see him painlessly executed.

That is a bad news. I hope time will come that there will be no more crimes.

Perhaps that's where we go when we die. I don't expect any such like here on Earth.

It's s shame -- there have been many crimes reported on either side of the political divide

Some use politics as an excuse to beat someone up.
