The cold weather and what comes with it makes me hurt so! Saturday when I was out shopping with my daughter it was cold and real windy. Then it started snowing! Now tonight it is supposed to start snowing, just for tonight then stop sometime in the morning before rush hour ends. But it is supposed to freeze, so the roads will be a mess. Tonight any of the evening programs are cancelled for the public schools in this county. But as usual this school systems waits till 5:00 AM to announce whether school will be open or closed. UGH! What do your school systems do?

They cancel here in this county because a lot of the schools are in country parts and the streets are very slippery.

@dfollin unless the weather is really bad we use plots, sanders and salters to keep the roads clear.

I really don't have to worry about that since we don't get snow here and my kids are Home Schooled. Even if by some miracle we needed a snow day here they would still be doing their school work.

Schools never close unless the heat or water malfunction. So staff always have to get to work. School buses get canceled if roads are very bad, like ice or severe drifting. So, some buses may run and others be canceled. And that would be decided in the morning. And there would still be classes for all who get there by bus or by themselves. Now, if many students are absent teachers will avoid introducing new material. Buses get canceled if the temperature goes below -40C. I am in the country. In the city, I don't think buses ever get canceled.

@LisaSteinmetz There are extra days built into the schedule in case there are days buses don't run at all. But that is only if it goes below -40, so we don't usually use many snow days. Usually there is snow here from November to April, so every day could be a snow day
