What I want to say is, If you cant stand anyones post, you just can tell it in good manner... If you have different idea you can comment it. If You wanna argue about that even doesnt matter.... But insulting people by posting rubbish....................... Yes that is teh matter..... If you dont have tell anything other than a bad comment which can insult the person. You better leave that diacussion and scroll down. I dont agree when you post rubbish and discourage them. They will leave this community in very first day if everyone do like this.... Yesterday when I was going through newbie posts, I saw many of those posts are not interesting and sometimes it dont give any sense at all.... But they will learn about this eventually... We should give them a chance.... Also we should teach them how to behave here.... In my first days, I also faced the same. But I just ignored them. But not everyone like me. They may disappoint and leave myLot... Some seniors ( not everyone, but only few of them) here never agree with newbies, they always trying to find a fault in newbie posts... May be its a fault in the content or it may be the language... Everyone not good at English here, so they will learn, even me not good at all... Im also still learning... But Im not shame because Im not an English woman... Im a srilankan... Shame on such people.... Please try to be friendly and kind, other than acting too smart... You are also not the owners here but the members same as others. Also, every senior once a newbie..... Remember that....

I remember going through hell on my first 3 years here because of a senior. Blocking that person made my life here awesome.

@averygirl72 the person had been accusing me of doing violations. if I did violations for 3 years I would have been banned,

@amandajay I'm not impressed with some words we read either. Of course words are funny sometimes and it depends on the content. For example only and nothing to do with this post. I've found myself using the word "retarded" a couple of times but in humour and to describe something really stupid or insanely dumb. I would never use that word for fear of hurting somebodies feelings by referring to some issue to do with say a person with a learning disability. Hope you understood my example. To be more inline with this post I think "newbie" and "noob" are words that can be funny or actually disrespectful to someone depending on how they are used. I've seen both in different forums around the internet. Some people online are nice while others are just nasty. A new person regardless of where they are from, whether they have a good or poor understanding of the English language is not at question here I think? What is at question is whether or not words being used are acceptable or rude? I've never accepted the senior label either. They are just people with different backgrounds. That's my two cents worth.

@Bluedoll yes i do understand what you mean...in some post those seniors were pointing their grammertical errors even, thats why write about language. Even a bad word may not hurt anyone if they say it in good manner... I mean "stupid" or "silly"...we can use as a joke or to insult... Its just an example... Btw I appreciate your comment...

I have great admiration for people who come here to myLot and post in English when it is not their native language. Hats off to them for trying However if I see a new (or not so new) user posting with 'text-style' language then I will inform them that they should not be doing that as it is not English. I welcome everyone (except those who come just to spam us) and over the years have helped many new users. Some of them did not understand my good intentions when we first met and we argued but over time we sorted our differences and they are still here now - and some of them are 'famous' Lotters too We need new users here. They bring new things to discuss and we can all help them. Of course if they don't read the Guidelines and think that they can do as they please there will no doubt be problems when they are informed of their mistake. It takes all sorts to make a world, both online and off

How are you. Welcome back by the way. I agree with what you wrote. You are only helping someone by pointing out that what they might be doing like txt spk won't work here. Many new ones are not accepted as valid members because they immediately show how they can break the rules. Many don't even take the time to even read the guidelines. Yes I agree with you. I hope it is okay to add this thought as well? According to the author of this post, a senior member(s) not identified is also "doing as they please" against or borderline against the guidelines unless you are suggesting that what the author wrote is not true. I tend to agree that sometimes even a famous or long time member can write something that is "a bad comment which can insult the person" because I too have seen this happen. Must worse?

Thank you for the welcome back @Bluedoll It seems that all is progressing well now, thanks to my meds and I hope that it will continue that way too. I agree that sometimes we read comments from older Lotters which seem rude. I probably am guilty myself However sometimes, particularly on a slow day here, there seems to be an influx of new users who are just adding Comments ResponsesAnd Posts which are one-liners, polls, promotions or other such violations which make it obvious that they have not bothered to read the Guidelines and it can be frustrating after a while I don't think that there is anyone here who purposely insults others all of the time. If that was the case they would have lost their account long ago as that is not the community spirit at all

That is their way of fun, as they have no other place to have a good time and this at the expense of others. I have noticed that.

I don't like people who will still join the discussion but nothing really good to say. Sometimes they want to insult you. I feel some people too likes to belittle others while making themselves big. Nevertheless that's the reality of life.

I started my newbie career as a senior. Or I was arrogant enough to think so. It's all about the golden rule, and maybe the fact I've joined Bubblews before myLot set me with a different mindset, I've always been self-conscious of what I posted. I understand it can be a bad experience if a newbie gets "attacked" the first time, I can't really relate because I think you must have thick skin to succeed in life. You can be hurt critically, but you must move on. I always try to be nice: welcome, here are the rules, be careful. Of course I don't report right after. But some people still take offence where no offence was meant.

Everyone has a different opinion but that doesn't mean to be rude about things you should be respectful to others if you want to be respectful. Just find a mannered way to leave your comment.
