Have you seen it yet?
You must. You really, really, really must see it.
But don't forget to pop some tissues or a trusted embroidered handkerchief in your bag. You will need them, because you will sob uncontrollably towards the end of the film. If you fail to sob uncontrollably you are either a psycho/sociopath, or a robot.
It is a truly beautiful film. I haven't read the book {I think there's a book?} so I had no idea what to expect. The superb acting skills made me feel for all the main characters. There was so much love, so much anger, so much guilt. It's a heartwrenchingly honest portrayal of real life, where we don't necessarily get a happy ever after, and where love isn't always enough. A brutally real life where people can't always find it easy to show how they really feel and where we don't get what we want, whether that be bad {wanting it to be over} or good {not wanting to let go}.
When the woman behind me said, She's going to die! towards the beginning of the film, I nearly turned around and said, No sh!t, Sherlock! but managed to control myself.
Perhaps the only things which spoilt it - for me - were that the only accent which seemed appropriate for the location was that of Dad, and he lives in America. And the credits listed Lizzie as Mom rather than Mum. Little things, but they annoy me. It was set in England, she's a Mum. {Side note: I am aware that some people in the West Midlands say Mom instead of Mum, but there was no indication that this was set there.}
So, go see. But remember, don't forget your tissues, and be prepared for all the women around you {and some of the men} to spend a lot of time sniffling.

I loved it too, and yes, I was in tears. The fate of the Mom / Mum is pretty obvious from the outset but it is a wonderful movie
