As a hobby I like to write fan fictions of PBS Kids super hero Wordgirl that ran on PBS Kids from 2007-2015. Okay I know that Wordgirl is a kids cartoon an her fan base is not as large as the super heroes that have television shows on the C W Network like The Flash, Arrow and Supergirl. Since her show ended in 2015 to fulfill the void of the show ending its run with the final episode called "Rhyme And Reason" I came to the harsh reality that doing Wordgirl solo shows was not going to get me a huge audience to read my fan fictions on Archive Of Our Own. Lo and behold I do remember one Superman and Batman cartoon movie called "Superman and Batman: Public Enemies" so I am doing this fan fiction starring Superman's cousin Power Girl who is secretly Karen Starr. My error is that Power Girl has only made small roles in cartoons like "Justice League Unlimited" and "Superman and Batman: Public Enemies. so maybe she does not have a huge fan following even though she is an adult. Would you believe that yesterday I started a fan fiction based on "Superman and Batman: Public Enemies" but with Power Girl asking the help of Wordgirl and her Justice League (?) mates identical twins Donna and Debi Isthmus who are her cousins and their close family friend Panama Squirrel to stop a meteor from crashing to Earth but since it has Kryptonite, Power Girl needs the assistance of the Lexicon team to stop the tragic event from happening. First chapter only has four readers as of today on Archive Of Our Own. Just for the record the title of the fan fiction is called "Power Girl's Greatest Adventure." I could just see the powers that be at W G Ventures laughing at me that my latest fan fiction tanked. But I will still stick to my guns of writing good old fashioned super hero fan fictions since the ones that are being sold on the market are too dark for me.

My kids are into fan fiction. I will only get into it if there's a way to generate some extra income. Is there?

Devianart and Archive Of Our Own do not pay me to write fan fictions. The only site I know of that pays for fan fictions would be Niume.com under the blog of Literature.

@Deepizzaguy it is actually ok to write fan fiction as long as it is not for profit - Niume are likely to remove it if they realize what it is as profiting from it breaches copyright laws

@Deepizzaguy - Niume?? Really?? I'm getting mixed reports about that site. Some say they pay. Some are complaining about non-payment or slow payment (i.e. not by the date promised). I signed up last year when people were singing its praises. Now I see people in forums asking or "checking" to see if other people got paid. I was thinking of publishing, but when I started getting mixed signals, I got discouraged. So now Niume is on a back burner again! Hey! I'm sorry. I just don't have time to waste at these sites.
