Talking about this grosses me out. Apparently my 4 year old son has pinworms gross! The last two night he has been spending the night with his great grandparents. This morning his great grandmother called and said she shined a light on his but and saw worms wiggling around all because he was moving around in his sleep. I still don't get why she looked all because of him moving in his sleep. So she told my husband and went picked up our son took him to the doctor they tapped his butt so they see if he has worms but they couldn't tell for sure or not. So the doctor told us to get an over the counter medicine and to take him to his ped later for her to check since they couldn't tell for sure. They said he probably does if another adult says so. I don't really check my kids poops for worms nor do I shin a light on their butts to find out. So we got the meds and we all have had some to make sure we kill them off. Now I have the wash clothes and blankets to make sure I get them all. Very contagious but mostly the doctor said that only he has it right now. Unlikely for me and my husband and our youngest but more so for our Older two.

I've never has this or knew of anyone having it. So is it only contagious from dog and cat Feces?

It's contagious for anyone pins are very commons. It happens more over sea then in the US but it does happen and mostly only common with little kids because the fact they are small and lack skills in keep themselves clean. It has nothing to do with animals. Yes animals can get them as well

Nobody knows. Doctors and the jnternext says you can pick them up anywhere like you would a virus. Most likely he got it from touching something and then swollen and egg. It takes two weeks for an egg to hatch. It happens to little kids all of the time since they like putting things in their mouth like their hands and toys. Yes gross but not hard to get ride off.

@carebear29 lots of things are disgusting. Bugs are every where and we actually eat lots all day every day all of our foods have tiny bugs and we have tons that naturally live in us that help us stay clean.

My eldest child had them when small. The pediatrucian told us that it was because she played with dogs and did not wash her hands. He give her a medicine and they went away. GROSSE!!!

No it has nothing to do with animals. We don't have any cats or dogs and the kids don't play either any either. Eggs can be on anything just like a virus they are pretty much any where and take two weeks to hatch once their is a host.
