Yesterday, I had my ATM card replaced to a new one since it will expire next month. I was expecting to pay at least Php150 ($3.11) for the new card but I was informed by the bank officer that he will just report it as a replacement card that's why it will be for free.
They have a memorandum to change their old ATM cards to a new one with EMV chip and I am glad that it's about time that I also have to renew mine.
So, I got my new card with the EMV chip, for free.

@brokenbee I think it's only your bank that lets their client pay for the renewed credit card. Never heard of such from any other bank.

@magallon Hihi yup, I thought about it before uploading the picture. It is quite sensitive because the numbers that appear on the card ( the real one, I mean) is already the account number unlike other cards that only show the card number different from the account number.

@brokenbee Oh here they don't since we state we want the latest chip for our security and they go ok or because it's renewal and they send a new card with chip themselves
Glad you got your card for free though

Yes, if they are not upgrading with the EMV chip, they had to charge me...

Yes, it should be free as you only renew the card as it is going to be expired. We have the same thing here.

Yup, it should always be free but here, they really charge you something for the card.

@brokenbee Or it's really free and they just tell their clients that there's a payment for it but supposedly they waive it and the client thinks they got a favor and the bank earns "pogi" points from their client.

@sunrisefan Hahaha I am really not sure. Hihihi! But they really charge for the card. My friend who had a Metrobank debit card was also charged when she renewed her card.
