Birds of a Feather ... Spice in Life

My Grandma Alma always told me that ... birds of a feather stick together. She told me to be careful whom I associated with because ... if they were 'bad' ... people would think I was 'bad', also. As I grew up I found that the people I liked weren't necessarily 'good' people in Grandma Alma's eyes. She wouldn't approve of them. I find I am attracted to all kinds of people just as I'm attracted to all kinds of colors ... I love them all. I love the spice in life. I like people no one else likes. I like people who aren't ever friendly to anyone ... I instinctively know something's happened in their life to make them like that. Things in life make me 'like that'. You might see me talking, laughing with someone in a motorcycle gang ... someone who is CEO in a big business ... someone who isn't my race ... someone who is smaller ... bigger ... uglier ... prettier ... than I am. It doesn't matter ... if they show me kindness ... I respond back with kindness. Suppose I ate tomato soup every day ... day in, day out. No crackers, pepper ... nothing to drink with it. Tomato soup for breakfast ... tomato soup for lunch ... tomato soup for supper ... tomato soup for snacks. Tomato soup ... tomato soup ... nothing but ... tomato soup. Living tomato soup ... breathing tomato soup. Oh my ... how boring! Suppose I began to have crackers with my tomato soup? A little pat of butter melted in my tomato soup? A sprinkle of pepper on top of my tomato soup? How interesting! How so different! How so darn good! I would never go back to ... just plain tomato soup. I love to know the taste of different flavors. No, I couldn't ever be 'just a bird of a feather' at all. I love the spice in life ... I love that people are different in their own ways. I love that they think in different ways. Just think how this world would be with ... only tomato soup ... only one kind of people. Give me ... different birds of a feather ... that's the spice of life! Note by this Author: My Grandma Alma was a wonderful person. She wanted the best for me. She only wanted me to be friends with a certain type of people. I couldn't ... I had a mind of my own ... just as she did as she grew up. I love birds of a ... different ... feather! They bring the spice to life to make it interesting.
