It doesn’t seem like anyone is very interested in January history but I save these posts in my documents and will be using them for other purposes.
January 9, 1913: It’s the day that U.S. President, Richard Milhous Nixon was born in Yorba Linda, California
January 9, 1788: The fifth state of the U.S. was ratified by the U.S. Constitution, Connecticut.
January 9, 1861: Mississippi seceded from the Union.
January 9, 1945: U.S. forces began to land at Lingayen Gulf in the Philippines during World War II.
January 9, 1957: Anthony Eden, British Prime Minister resigned.
January 9, 1968: The Surveyor 7 space probe made a soft landing on the moon.
What about January 10th?
January 10, 1776: Thomas Paine published the pamphlet “Common Sense” It sold ½ million copies.
January 10, 1863: In London, the world’s first underground passenger railway, Metropolitan, opened to the public
January 10, 1870: John D. Rockefeller incorporated Standard Oil
January 10, 1920: The League of Nations was established when the “Treaty of Versailles” went into effect.
January 10, 1928: The Soviet Union exiled Leon Trotsky
January 10, 1957: Harold Macmillan became Prime Minister of Britain.
January 10, 2000: America Online indicated that it would purchase Time Warner for $162 billion.

Sometimes we just have to pay attention to the news every day, because sometimes newscasters tell us things that happened on a particular date. I listen for those "tidbits." I always have a notebook and pen on the table beside my chair, when I watch TV. Especially, if I'm watching the news or a documentary.
