Winter reading challenge I'm thrilled. My local library is holding a winter reading challenge from January 3 - Feb. 23 your goal is to read/listen to audio books as many as you can. Every 5 you read or listen to earns you an entry for a prize drawing - prizes like- coffee mugs and gift cards. Ooo I like these kinds of things and I am so happy that audio books are included since I can listen to a lot that way. So far I have read/listened to 6 - I turned in 1 slip and now have a start on the next. So how about you? Do you enjoy reading or listening to audio books? Or do you prefer others forms of entertainment? Any drawings or competitions in your area? Photo: Mine

That is so awesome your library is having a contest like that! Ours did that a few years ago and it lasted all summer. The prize was a tablet. I didn't enter that year as I thought I had to go to book groups which I was wrong about. I did however enter a reading contest this past summer at a different library and I won that. I got a travel themed wall decoration and three decorative globes. I gave my man the wall decoration and my kids the globes. It was just thinking to win! Good luck to you I hope you win some nice prizes!

OOo! A tablet, that was a nice prize. The globe and decorations sounds like really nice gifts. Thanks! They say it'll be mugs, or gift cards. Actually they gave me a mug jut for signing up... :-)

I know it's small prizes, but it's enough to make me buckle down and read more. How about you, do you read much?

I enjoy reading books. I've listened to a few audio books and they're good, although for me I prefer to read the story.

@FayeHazel I like suspense, westerns, mild romance, but most of all - historical novels by Phillipa Gregory - she writes about the Tudors and other kings and queens.

That sounds so cool. I rarely listen to audio books these days. But I do love to read. My library has a summer reading program when you have to check out 3 items to equal one entry into the drawing from June to late August. You can win gift cards and other items. One year I won a gift card to the movies. But I haven't won anything since then.

@FayeHazel Yeah it is. The only downside, you can't do e-books. But you can do inter-library book loans.

I enjoy, actually, I love to read. Unfortunately in our area they haven't had any challenges. Maybe I should suggest it.
