Read the documentation under "Help", then start by responding to discussions (The 'Explore/Most Recent Discussions' page is probably the most useful page to look at first) and starting your own. Be careful to make them descriptive and avoid using questions which merely require a 'yes' or 'no' or a single word answer. The object is to engage people lin conversation and to find out their opinions - in other words, to interact with them so that they are more likely to interact with you.
