Netflix is a treasure trove of blood, guts, gore and death but only if you know where to look for it. The television shows are particularly interesting because about half of them are from other countries. “Black Mirror” and “Curious And Unusual Deaths” are my latest finds; “Black Mirror” is more of an updated Twilight Zone production than anything else however it's amazing how much they can cram into a single episode.
“Curious And Unusual Deaths” is comparable to “1,000 Ways To Die” but with an older format / feel to it. As the name suggests, it is about the weirder accidents that happen and result in death. Trust me, it will make you think twice about certain things that you might do in your everyday life.
The series debuted in 2012 but only lasted one season; the episodes feel a little dated and the narration does nothing you pull you in to the story. Some of the stories go back to 1988 so there's a chance that you might remember some of them if you live in an area that has a lot of possible hazards like New York and New Jersey. Each episode contains three segments that run for about seven minutes each for a total of 21 minutes for each episode.
It says that it is only carrying the first season on Netflix but a few of them have notes that say they are from the second season. It's Netflix, don't try to figure it out. All of the episodes are within a certain theme; for example “Deaths In New York” has footage of a huge steam explosion (Manhattan), a man getting sucked into a decommissioned reservoir drain pipe and a woman getting electrocuted while walking her dog.
This surfaced in my 'new' section on Netflix where they list recent adds; personally I love shows like this because not only are they educational but they serve as a small reminder that death is everywhere. Some of the other episodes include”Death By Innocent Pastimes” “Death By Hardware” and “Rich And Famous Deaths”. It's rated TV-14 but there's no extreme violence or nudity.

I might check out that series. My tastes run to the macabre a bit too. Right now I am watching Twin Peaks which was a hit in it's day way back when. I watched a couple episodes of Black Mirror and found them a bit too intense for my tastes.

I watched the first episode when it popped up on my Netflix, I have to say I didn't much care for it, I might try the 2nd episode before I make my final decision on this show.
