Another Dreary Day in Michigan, but We Can Imagine the Sun Peeking Out

It's another day here in Michigan without any sun coming through the clouds although not quite as dreary as it's looked in the last few days. The image on the left was taken a short time ago. Not as much of the sky showed up in the picture as I was aiming for, but you can tell the suns rays aren't shining out.
I thought I'd put in a couple of pictures I happened upon a month ago before going to the doctor. I almost missed these until I looked up at the sky. That day was pretty cloudy too and when I returned to the car after my appointment it was once again cloudy as before.
So even though it might be cloudy in your part of the world, the sun is out there somewhere. Maybe it will peek through the clouds to provide some joy and wonder for you all. If not, you can enjoy the images on the right side for now.

It is wonderfully sunny here this morning but we have storm warnings and possible tornados for tomorrow.

I don't remember getting tornadoes in Connecticut, oh, but you're in Fla, aren't you? Are tornadoes common there? They've passed though Michigan enough through the years, but tend not to wreck the havoc Colorado and similar states get. Hopefully the tornadoes will die down before they get near you by then.
*(Edited: I originally had that I didn't remember CT, when I lived there for a year. Not sure what I was going to say about it).

@MarshaMusselman Common enough, we had one in our complex last year and had minimal damage to our house.

@BelleStarr Ew, that doesn't sound good. Hopefully it doesn't pay you a visit again.

@arthurchappell Yup, two to three months before the snow is finally passed or past us completely.

It's still somewhat warmer here today, being in the forties Fahrenheit, but will be getting colder soon. We had teeny snow flurries earlier this afternoon and the sun came out for about one half hour this morning, but I barely saw it since I wanted to get a bit more sleep. When I finally got up it was cloudy once again.
The one benefit to clouds is that it does keep the earth a bit warmer until the next stream of arctic air comes in.

I think Mr. Sun is making up for his lack of ability to shine elsewhere by shining extra brightly here in Florida! It's been miserably hot and humid here lately, and it feels like summer! We'll get a break from Mr. Sun today because we have severe thunderstorms rolling through today from a cold front to our north. But even with all the storms and clouds, it's still going to get up into the mid-80's today!

That would certainly be nice to live out the winter in weather like that. Maybe one year down the road we'll be able to do that too like some other mylotters. Forty degree weather is still fairly warm for us here in Michigan in January.

Love your photos and March came in like a lion and left snow on our cars and the lawns during the night. I'm sick of being cold... good thing I have painting to do...

I'm disappointed because to my knowledge March didn't come in like a lion as it seemed ready to do the end of February when it was brisk and chilly. If it came in that way it didn't linger around very long. I learned in years past that if it didn't come it like a lion it went out that way and that meant a colder beginning of April possibly, and more wind that we want when working with the ladders while beginning our business again for the year.

@MarshaMusselman such strange weather, March cam in with snow then we had temps in the 70's and now we are back into a deep freeze... We had the high winds yesterday and heard the limbs hitting our roof. I have a cold and was being quiet when the power went off and I went to bed to nap the hours away until the power came back on...

So do I, this cloud cover is getting old. Down in Lansing the other day they had almost fifty degree weather and blue skies as did Chicago, but they had sixty degrees. It looks like it could be another week yet before we only have 'partly' cloudy skies rather than all-over clouds. Unless the sun takes us by surprise one day in between, which would be nice.

@DianneN We've seen a bit of blue skies here and there but they've not stayed long enough to glimpse much sun. Two sunny days are currently forecast for the weekend if they stay that way.
Today I went to an appt and I saw blue skies to the west. I was surprised that when I got out it was all-over cloudy once again. I did notice blue skies to the east, but if they ever were overhead I missed it entirely. At least the sky is brighter even though it's covered by clouds, not the dreary repetitive skies we had last week.

I know what you're saying- there's been no sun for over a week and we still will be getting a general 'grey' till Thursday they say!

I'd have to check for sure, but rain is on our forecast every day and on Thursday it's switching to snow. It will be the first sigh of snow since the beginning of the month if it does make a visit that is. It's been so foggy here almost every day with the water evaporating. It almost feels as if it isn't really a cloud cover overhead but instead just all the built up rain lifted off the earth by the warmer air. I realize it's all the same thing to a degree, but it would be weird to find the clouds aren't as high as they seem.

@MarymargII We're still looking at cloud cover even though the fog seems to be over with and the clouds seem higher so it's at least a bit brighter and not so glum. The sun may peek through a bit on Sund and maybe more next week, but the clouds look like they'll be here a while otherwise.
Our temps aren't going back down to stay until closer to the end of Jan/ beginning of Feb when it's heading back down into the 30's and below a bit F.

@MarshaMusselman Well, today the fog has lifted for awhile but the next week it will still be mild albeit actually below freezing a few days.

It was a wonderful 74 degrees yesterday. Today's high will be 64. Next week we are going to be out scraping ice off of the windshields again.

Last night I worked with my brother and sister trying to clear out more of mom's stuff from her house which my daughter had been renting for the past couple of years. Now my brother wants to get a regular renter and Mom's things need to go. We got a lot accomplished but it was raining part of the night and sleeting also. This morning I woke up to a light coating of icy snow on the ramp and car.
It's about forty now, a lot warmer than the highs forecast for today a couple of days ago. The snow should be melted soon. The highest we got these past two weeks was probably 45. It was supposed to get to fifty, but either didn't make it or for not that many hours.

I don't see the eyes, but I do like the play of light within the clouds.

Those pictures of the sun peeking out of semi-blue skies were back in December, Marie. We did have a couple of sunny days early January, but for the past week and a half it was cloudy and quite foggy both day and night. Only today the sky is brighter although still covered with clouds. Our first site of the sun may be this coming Sunday and a few days next week.

@MarshaMusselman - Ms Marsha - Before I go looking for your pix over on the "Niume" pages, I can see that you are still busy making pix and collages with your camera(s). Good to see that. -Gus-

@MarshaMusselman - Ms Marsha - No need for a link. I found the page and looked at lots of pix. Noticed that the greater photo dimensions were, the less focused were the images.Interesting observation. Had difficulty in sending a comment to you on that website via the form under your photo(s) - so if you did not get a message there from me, be consoled. I really tried to send more than one message. Have fun with your photo-making. -Gus-

@Ceerios Do you mean that you signed up and commented under a photo or so? I've not been there for a look this past week or so, so I've not seen whether any msg from you went through or not. I'll take a peek later or in the morning.

We have had a few sunny days here last week but the sun is so low in the sky it actually hurts the eyes when you are facing it plus it makes it quite dangerous to drive when it is so low in the sky! Hopefully spring will be here soon!

I'm sure we're a long way off from spring just yet. Does it usually come to the UK as early as March or do you have to wait until April for it to really be spring? It may begin warming up in march, but there's usually a lot of snow around still. A few of the early flowers will come out then like crocuses and maybe a few tulips later in the month. We will usually get one more snow storm or flurries as late as mid-April or even later, so I'm not expecting spring for some time yet.
I don't think we get too low of a sun very often unless you catch the early rising morning sun or as it's creeping back down on the west.

I tried sleeping in but had a headache. At least after getting up and taking something for it, it's now gone. I do work in a couple of hours so if I stayed in bed too long I'd not get a thing done.
