The Indianapolis Colts on Saturday have terminated their general manager Ryan Grigson after five seasons.
Even though there are reports the Colts owner Jim Irsay would like to hire former Colts quarterback Peyton Manning to succeed Grigson as the new general manager but Irsay denies that report saying he will be speaking to Colts front office official Jimmy Raye to succeed Grigson as the next general manager of the Colts.
As of now Colts head coach Chuck Pagano will remain with the team in the 2017 football season if and when the new general manager of the Colts in named.

I wonder if Manning would be good in that position.

Peyton would have to be trained by the Colts front office to become their general manager since it is different that playing football on the field.

He is better off being an assistant coach than working in the front office since his area of expertise is football on the field than having to hire football players..
