An unusual angle on zombies in that a/. they are quite sentient b/. not out to eat anyone and c/. they are the victims here rather than the monsters.
A middle aged doctor in the US dies of a heart attack, and then comes back to life. He thinks he is alone in his fate and his living wife stands by him, but his daughter is frightened and disgusted by his condition.
Gradually, he discovers others like himself and that the government plans on their extermination. He avoids joining a zombie terrorist cell who see war as their only hope of survival, and the hero, John, joins a CIA task force looking for a peaceful solution. He faces not only the struggle against friends in the terrorist cell, but also a CIA chief who plans to destroy the zombies with chemicals promoted as a cure for their condition.
Can John save the day and reunite with his family as the good zombies fight for their independence and to be granted territory of their own in the Alaskan Wilderness?
A very good piece of writing that totally turns the zombie convention on its head.
Terrific art work from Ron Boney too.
