It's very sad to see. I'm something of a moderate, and didn't vote for him or Clinton. Part of the reason for polarization is that our media, which is almost entirely controlled by the Left, has blown a lot of things waaaaay out of proportion. If a person mentions this, however, they run the risk of encountering a lot of hate. It also, in turn, polarizes Trump supporters.
Now, Trump does have an issue with putting his foot in his mouth on social media, and he's a little extreme on some things, but he started his extremism to get attention and it seems to have worked. However, some people think he's a bully and against women and the disabled and all that, but they wouldn't have that perception if they looked at alternate news sources.
Short answer: because this election, like so many, has been about emotion, not sense. As for me, I wish him the best, and hope he can do a better job than the last guy.
