A Stranger Occurrence, I have yet to have.

My brow creased in fear and yet a state of being perplexed. I wasn't quite sure what I was staring at, even as I knew exactly what it was that lay before my eyes. Two grey and scrawny creatures with pointy ears like those of a dogs, and expressions of curiosity and hunger etched across their face. If it weren't for the cocking of their heads, I'd be more afraid. The fact remains that I should have been more afraid, and yet I was as curious of these creatures as they were of me. They sat in obedience even as their front paws itched at the ground, ready to strike. A better contradictory pose, I could not think of. I looked up from where I stood, my hand upon the door. The skies outside were nearly as grey as these creatures pelts, but with a streak of blue that denoted a brighter sky was to come. I looked back down at these creatures, and that is when I heard it. "Let them in." She said. I couldn't though, and wouldn't. These creatures weren't to be trusted, even if the hunger I saw in their eyes moved me. "I can't, Mom." I replied. "Don't you see these are coyotes?" "They are harmless, nonethelesss." She atoned. It was with these words the beasts made to strike. Almost as if their alleged tameness was an affront against them. I barely closed the door in time. Even so my back lay against it, my breath heavy in my chest as I leaned with my hands splayed on the cool surface of the door. "No, Mom. I won't be letting these creatures in." She harumphed. **This is my own work of fiction, though based heavily on a dream I had last night. I gave it a bit of a flair, and left out some of the more scintilating details of the dream.**

I appreciate the compliment. Though it seems my creative side only comes out when I have dreams as fodder.

I only seem to write when I can remember my dreams vividly.

I've never seen any up close, though I've heard their howls.

I'm not sure how I'd interact with coyotes that were close. Interesting dream.

Very strange dream. I doubt I would be so relaxed were it to truly happen.

@ScribbledAdNauseum What do you think it meant? Who did the coyotes symbolize?

@ScribbledAdNauseum I wouldn't trust symbols you find on the internet. I agree (with Freud) that thing are symbolized in dreams, but we each have our own symbols, based on our life experiences.

I rarely remember my dreams in that much detail, but I vividly recall having very detailed ones. They live on the tip of my tongue. I wouldn't know a coyote if it bit me on the bottom.

I don't think I've ever seen one up close. I have heard their howling in the woods before. I used to live in a much more rural area, and could hear them nearly every night. I think I've heard them in years past here, but it's been quite awhile since I've paid it any mind. I can go long stints without remembering my dreams, but when I do start to remember them I take note.

Great writing, I once went to school with someone who had a coydog (a coyote/dog hybrid), but I never really encountered an actual coyote
