Day 137
Proverbs 16:25
Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Everyone believes they have the best way to do things. It doesn’t matter what it is they’re doing, they have the best way. Some you can reason with and they will listen to you, others will stubbornly pursue their ways, even though they’ve been told what they are doing is wrong.
Solomon was wise in that he recognized God’s ways were the best ways, and pursuing any other way, was fruitless and led to death.
What are God’s ways? God’s ways can be summed up as loving God and loving your neighbor. Jesus showed us who our neighbor is when someone came to him to ask him how he would inherit eternal life.
Luke 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.
28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor?
Jesus then went on to tell him a parable about who qualified as his neighbor.
Luke 10:30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spend more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
36 Which now of these three, think thou, was neighbor unto him that fell among the thieves?
37 And he said, He that showed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.
God’s ways then are to help those in need. You are to take care of the orphan and widow. You are not to withhold your hand from doing good when called upon for help if you can. You are not to justify your actions as the lawyer tried to do when he went to Jesus with the question about eternal life.
Justification makes things right in your eyes, but it doesn’t mean it’s right. You need to justify your actions with the Word of God. What does God say about your actions? If your ways are not God’s ways, it’s time to make some changes in your life.
Let’s pray: Father, let my ways be your ways and help me not to justify my ways when they do not line up with your Word. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

@just4him I am guilty of that. I don't bend down on my knees in praying. Most of the time, I am seating or bending my body like what Muslims do.

@annierose It doesn't matter what position you are in when you pray, as long as you do. I can't kneel. So I sit or stand.

We are wise to let God lead us in the way we should go.

Yes, and in so doing take scripture out of context, making it say something it doesn't.
