Day 139
Proverbs 16:27
Proverbs 16:27 An ungodly man digs up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.
28 A froward man sows strife: and a whisperer separates chief friends.
29 A violent man entices his neighbor, and leads him into the way that is not good.
30 He shuts his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he brings evil to pass.
We live in a world full of evil. You can read about it in newspapers, on the Internet, see it on the news, and wherever you go. Hollywood is also good at devising evil on the screen if you haven’t had enough evil in the various media outlets.
Solomon lived in a world where evil was a way of life. He didn’t need to look far to know what evil did to a family and a country. Wars took place all around him. Informants were ready to give away country secrets. Murder happened in his household between brothers, and a brother wanted to usurp the throne from his father. Instead he was killed in battle. Plots took place in his household and he put a brother to death for the conspiracy. Even friends couldn’t be trusted.
As Christians, do you live in a state of paranoia or do you find another way? It would be easy to live in paranoia with everything going on in the world today. However, there is a better way. In some cases, it’s turning the other cheek. In every case, it’s living, eating, breathing, and sleeping in your armor.
Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Satan wants to divide friends and family. He will do whatever he can to make it happen. Jesus also has a plan for you.
John 10:10 The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
In a world of hate there is only one person we can turn to and trust. Jesus Christ our Savior the Son of God. When he went back to heaven, he sent the Holy Spirit to be our guide and teacher through life. With the Holy Spirit, we can break down Satan’s strongholds, and advance the kingdom of God.
2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
Satan doesn’t stand a chance against you when you stand in your armor. Evil must flee.
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (KJV)
Submitting to God is surrendering your life, body, soul, and spirit, to God and allowing him to lead you in the path everlasting. He goes before you and will never leave you or forsake you.
Deuteronomy 1:29 Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.
30 The LORD your God which goes before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;
31 And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.
Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
8 And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed. (KJV)
Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (KJV)
With God and our Lord Jesus Christ fighting for you and the Holy Spirit indwelling you, you have nothing to fear from all the evil in this world.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for giving me your armor so I can stand against Satan and all the schemes he employs against me. Help me to be strong in the power of your might so Satan will flee from me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
