Day 142 Proverbs 16:33 Proverbs 16:33 The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD. Your lot in life, what you do, and how you go about doing it, is something everyone has, and needs to take care of each day. Your lot then becomes your to-do list. Whether you write it down or not, you know what you need to do and in the order it needs to be done. Sometimes the priorities on your to-do list changes, or something is added when unexpected situations arise. Solomon’s lot was to rule over Israel. How he did that, was not up to him, but God. He could set priorities and fashion out how he was going to perform his duties each day, but if he didn’t give them to God, God would decide how and when each task would be accomplished. He found it was better to give his tasks to God and he would be better able to accomplish his tasks. As children, you dream about what you will be when you grow up. You make plans. You plot your course through life. You know how many years you need to go to college to get the degree you need for the career you intend to have. However, plans change. You might not have the skills needed for the work, and you need to consider a different direction for your life. As Christians, your one task, your lot, is to follow God’s direction. When you place your life in God’s hands, trusting Jesus as your personal Savior and Lord, he will guide your steps in the direction you need to go. What you thought as the direction you wanted for your life, might not be the direction God wants for you. You might also find that your dreams, goals, aspirations are right in line with what God wants for you. There was a book that came out many years ago, called God is My Co-pilot. If God is your co-pilot, it’s time to change places and let God be your pilot. Let him lead and you follow. He knows what is best for your life. All the skills and ambitions are already part of your personality. Let God bring them out and perfect them, and lead you in the path he has for your life. Let’s pray: Father, take my plans, my desires, my ambitions, and change them to what you have determined for my life. Let me follow you. Direct my steps in the way they need to go. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 28 January 2017 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

Without God's guidance we can make the wrong choices. I certainly have in the past.
