Kansas City Chiefs director of football operations Chris Ballard is a clear candidate to replace Ryan Grigson as the new general manager of the Indianapolis Colts.
If Ballard succeeds Grigson as the new general manager of the Colts, he has no plans to retain Chuck Pagano as the head coach of the Colts in the 2017 football season.
However the Colts management plans to interview several more candidates to become the next general manager of the Colts in 2017 with additional interviews with current interim general manager Jimmy Raye III and Green Bay Packers director of football operations Eliot Wolf have been interviewed by the Colts management for the general manager position.
So it is not set in stone that Ballard will be the next Colts general manager.

Pagano must be feeling nervous. He may be in the unemployment line.

When a new general manager says "You are likely to be fired." He means it. At least Pagano can on his feet with another team as an assistant.
