Dateline, History, the Presidents and 50 Years...

Last night I watched Dateline on NBC, a two hour documentary about Tom Brokaw called "The First Fifty Years. You remember him if you watched TV in the states, he was a reporter, and a favorite of mine. He talked about the last 50 Presidents and had video of everything he was talking about. It was truly a walk back into history. He also talked about Presidents he didn't interview like D.W.Eisenhower. We so soon forget the past when the new president appears to be suffering from “malignant narcissism” and is scaring most Americans to the point of having night mares at night. Walking back in history with Tom last night reminded me just how crazy some of the other presidents were. Remember President Nixon....he was kicked out eventually; which makes me happy. The possibility Trump will be too is delightful. Then we can remember George W. H. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W Bush, and who can forget Gerald Ford....I did... It was sad to see again the death of the Kennedy brothers. It was interesting to see how Tom reacted to all of the Presidents. But watching it was a trip back into history and a promise to the future. (fingers crossed)
NBC News is feting Tom Brokaw again. This time, it will celebrate the 50th anniversary at the network of the former anchor, and these days special correspondent. And it will include appearances of …

We recorded it and watched it when we returned from dinner with friends. Love and respect Tom Brokaw. I hope Trump doesn't ruin the greatest country in the world.

I recorded it too and re-watched in the morning. It was an interesting reminder of our history.

The word impeach is showing up more and more the crazier he gets. What he is doing is so not American. Unless we are natives we are all immigrants, and so many forget that on a daily basis...( My grandfather was on the Mayflower)

Trump is ruining a lot of lives in the meantime before he potentially gets kicked out.

We can only hope it happens very soon before he attacks someone with bombs. I love that Canada opened its arms to anyone stuck because of the orange idiot.

@PainsOnSlate I hope that it happens soon before the country is attacked, I feel so sorry for the Americans right now. I wish that we could welcome them here to Canada.

While past leaders of this country have left a bad mark or two, the current one, only in office a few shorts day, has shown he is the craziest of the bunch.

It must be quite an interesting programme as the presidents are forgotten once out of office. They are usually remembered for the bad things or their flaws but equally, I am sure they tried to do what they thought best for America. (PS my grandson can not say America. He says Ameriqua. ) I have tried and tried to get him to say it properly. Hopefully by time he gets to 3 he will be able to say it properly!

@JamesHxstatic I agree with you and we lived through those years, at least I did, he was a crook and Trump obviously is not normal so why is he not stopped instead of just patting his back and saying atta-boy... I think the majority in Washington as scared silly and afraid to say NO.

Our presidents are not really forgotten once out of office, it seems to me. People who study history at all (college level at least) remember our best and our worst and know what they did or left undone. Nixon was a crook and got thrown out basically and George W was releived to see the big T elected so he could shrug off the "worst ever" label.

I just sit back in awe at what is going on with the politicians these days. It's not just the president but all of them. None of them is straight. They are all as crooked as a black snake on a hot rock.

Its scary to find out the words out of their mouths are lies, They make their own news - when the idiot makes a mistake that killed that soldier, they lied about it, blaming Obama for it... I hope he's impeached soon...
