Why is Trump not liked by many?

I am from a different country, I am just wondering why part of America hates her choice of president.

Americans are never going to agree on our choice of president. But that's one of the great things about our country, we have the freedom to disagree.

It's like that in every election. In America you have liberals and conservatives and Republicans and Democrats. Most, but not all, citizens in America fall in either of these two classes of politics and ideology. Both sides have strong views about the direction the country should go in and that conflict is often exacerbated by people in media, education, entertainment, and politics to the point that the divide between the two sides seems too great to be traversed. So, when a president who seems to oppose the ideals of one side gets elected he often gets treated with disdain and hatred by those who didn't vote for him. It was like that when Obama got elected, both times, and has been that way for decades.

Trump got less popular votes than Hillary but was elected President by the Electoral College. There lies the problem.
