That time we went out on a lazy sunday car ride and ended up in a new time.

You know that first scene in one of the back to the future movies where Marty first lands in the 1950's? Yeah, me neither but this sure feel likes it. The sky is overcast with those weird shades of grey and blue that make me think of newspaper print. It definitely makes me think of that movie though, as this stretch of road makes me feel as if we've stepped back in time. I'm in the back seat of the car while my nephew rides shot gun and my grandfather is driving. We had gone out to eat and then he wanted to go find a place he needed to be on Monday morning. It's off in boondockville he said, and I'm always up for a scenic drive. So here we are, but I think we're lost. He (My grandfather) hasn't said as much, but he has hushed my nephew from his incessant rambling (no complaints from me) and that usually means he needs to concentrate. I haven't bothered asking if he's lost yet, he'll tell me if he wants to tell me. "Amber" he says to me. "Can you get on your phone and try to figure out where we are." I had put my phone in my pocket, I was enjoying the drive and daydreaming too much to worry over social media. "Sure" I say and glance around to the nearest road sign. All of the signs in this area look brand new, even the store signs with their big letters and bright colors. Arrows pointing from the sign, as if you couldn't figure out where the soda shop was, or the mechanics. My phone isn't wanting to cooperate. I can't get it to go to google, I can't get it to go to any kind of map interface actually. The GPS won't even attempt to load. Weird. "Uh, just keep driving this way?" I say pointing to the right as we get to the end of a road and have to decide which way to turn. "I'm not really sure, my phone's acting kind of funny." My nephew would usually crack some joke about me looking funny but he's silent, so he must realize how stressful of a situation we are in. My grandfather groans about technology and it being useless. The sky is growing increasingly more dark, and businesses are shutting down around us. "I think we should pull off here and ask for directions." I say pointing towards a motel. My grandfather does just that and we all unbuckle and get out of the car. I look around and it's not just the businesses with outdated (yet still bright) signs, but the cars are all old too. Hmm, seems weird, as if we've stepped into a town that simply didn't wish to progress with time. It's almost charming. Almost. We walk into the motel and to the lady with short curly hair and a pair of thick framed glasses. "May I help you?" She asks and I take over before anyone else can speak. "Yes, we're looking for Brick - a Breke Road." I say and she scrunches up her nose. "You mean that road their working on out by the Old Hodgens Place?" she asks and I just shrug. "We're looking for a golf course off that road I say." At this she shakes her head and frowns. "There's no golf course on that road. In fact, there's nothing on that road yet. They are just starting to clear trees to make a way for the road." I look at the lady and then at my grandfather and nephew. "We are in Silar Springs aren't we?" I ask. She nods the affirmative and looks over our shoulder to the man who just walked into the motel. "Hey Mr. Jenkins, come to get your paper before you head on home?" She greets. He grunts and she reaches behind her to a stack of newspapers I hadn't seen until just then. I look down at the paper and that's when I see it. Tuesday, November 1st 1952. --- This is a creative piece I wrote based off of a dream I had. There is more that could have been explained and / or said but I didn't wish to make the story too long so left it at that.

I just hate wars and violent mood for a book. Hehehehehe! I hope I can read one of your writings one of these days. God bless. You can on me your watt pad address or blog or something. God bless.

@luisadannointed I don't write very often, so it might be quite a wait. WHen I do, I usually tag them with "creative" or "Story" or "fiction" though.
