It has been a few weeks shy of four years since I have applied for Social Security Disability and I received a notice for a hearing to take place yesterday at a hearing about an hour from here. I have no car and my daughter just got one so she drove me and paid two tolls then we had to park in a pay parking lot and I had to walk in the cold with my feet and legs hurting then! We had to go in the building (finally!) and go to the side hallway clear out our pockets and go thru security walk thru's, then refill our pockets with our belonging's Then we had to go into an office where we had to show our ID's and get visitor badges, then sit down and wait for an escort. A very nice woman came to escort us to an elevator that took us to a lobby where she had to get my daughter's name to get permission from the judge on a video chat that my daughter come in the room. She returned granting my daughter permission and we had to give our cell phones to the receptionist and was escorted to a room where we sat in chairs and the lady sat at a computer at another table. The screen was only that of a medium sized computer monitor, so the judge could not see my daughter. The nice judge explained who she was and that this was only a preliminary hearing, which I did not know! She just asked me questions about if the information they had was correct and if I had more information to get obtained. And that was it! I could of been asked this on the phone. Now I have to wait till May 5th to go to the actual hearing and that I need to get an attorney to be there with me.

I'm sorry. It sounds exactly like what my mom went through and she was also so frustrated by the whole thing.

Isn“t this a question of health? It seems as they were checquing that you are not a suspect of something bad.

4 years this has been going on. That's just crazy and really wrong. And to make you go all the way there for a few questions. I mean they know you are disabled so they want to see you for you to prove it. Wow crazyness.
